4Culture Cultural Venue Reach and Access

4Culture funds hundreds of arts, heritage, preservation, and science organizations in King County, including many with physical venues and open hours. Geographic equity is a priority for 4Culture. However, existing analysis of geography could be too simplistic, because as the recent Doors Open Culture and Communities survey showed, the majority of cultural participants are willing to travel to access programming. Seva Workshop supported 4Culture with drivetime analysis on 382 physical venue locations to develop, for the first time, a more complete geographic understanding of cultural access “coverage” in King County, and how many venues are within reach of King County residents.
